About Me: Dr. Chanchal Haldar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry& Chemical Biology at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad, Jharkhand. He completed his B.Sc. (Chemistry Hons.) from Burdwan University, West Bengal, and his M.Sc. degree in chemistry from IIT Guwahati. He obtained his Ph.D. from IIT Roorkee under the supervision of Prof. M.R. Maurya in 2012. Dr. Haldar's research work broadly focuses inthe area of Inorganic Catalysis for the green and economical conversion of small organic molecules into value-added compounds.
Research Interest: We are working on a number of topics, a few are: Coordination Chemistry of vanadium. Functional models of bio-enzymes: Vanadium Haloperoxidase (VHPO), Catechol oxidase (CO), galactose oxidase (GO) Heterogenization of homogeneous catalysts and their industrial applications Chemical depolymerization Catalytic application of transition metal complexes (especially vanadium and copper) for green and effective conversion of small organic and biomolecules into value-added chemicals Investigation of the reaction mechanism of the catalytic oxidation reactions with the help of spectroscopic, thermal, and computation studies
