About Me: Dr. Debanjan Maity is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur as a Prime Minister's Research Fellow (PMRF), where his research focused on advanced thermomechanical processing, dissimilar material joining, process-microstructure-property correlations, and digital twin assisted manufacturing. He completed his M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, graduating with the highest CGPA in the department and receiving the Institute Silver Medal. He earned his B.E. in Production Engineering from Jadavpur University. Prior to joining IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, he worked as a Research Associate at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore on hybrid additive-subtractive manufacturing systems. He also served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at IIT Kharagpur, where he was involved in the design and development of CNC based Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) systems for repair and remanufacturing applications. Earlier, he gained industrial experience as a Senior Manager at Tata Motors, working on automotive transmission testing, validation, and product development. His research interests include thermomechanical processing, welding and joining, additive manufacturing, numerical modelling of manufacturing processes, digital image correlation, in situ process monitoring, smart manufacturing, and digital twins. His current work aims to integrate manufacturing process physics with machine design, sensing, automation, and intelligent control to develop next-generation sustainable and adaptive manufacturing systems.

Research Interest: 1. Thermomechanical processing 2. Process-microstructure-property correlations 3. Numerical modelling of manufacturing processes 4. In situ process monitoring 5. Smart manufacturing and digital twin 6. Digital image correlation
