About Me: Dr. Mohit Gupta is a chemical engineer with a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech (2024), an M.S. from the University of Florida, and a B.Tech. from MNIT Jaipur. During his doctoral research, he developed a first-principles-based flotation model that incorporates interfacial forces, particularly electrical double-layer and hydrophobic forces, as key contributors to flotation kinetics. He also developed novel flotation technologies for fine and coarse particles. In addition, his investigation of surface forces between deformable interfaces using microscopic experimental techniques contributed to the development of a new class of flotation collectors that render mineral surfaces superhydrophobic. Dr. Gupta has more than seven years of combined research and industrial experience in mineral processing, flotation, critical-mineral extraction, process optimization, and process design.

Research Interest: 1) Mineral processing: 1.1) flotation kinetics and modeling, 1.2) flotation reagent development, 1.3) mining-waste valorization, 1.4) process flowsheet design and optimization. 2) Critical Minerals extraction and separation
