About Me: Dr. Punyabeet Sarangi is a researcher at heart and takes a keen interest in exploring topics in the field of urban transportation planning, choice modeling, and travel behavior analysis. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Transportation Engineering) from IIT Delhi, where he explored the impact of household and social interactions on travel behavior. With a strong academic background, including an M.Tech. from NIT Patna and a B.Tech. from OUTR Bhubaneswar, he has worked extensively in choice modeling, activity travel demand models, and sustainable mobility solutions. Prior to joining as an Assistant Professor at IIT Dhanbad, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at IISc Bangalore, contributing to research on clean air and electric mobility. He has authored 10 publications as of Jan 2025 and his work has been featured in top-tier journals like Transportation (Springer Nature), Transport Research Part A, and the Journal of Transport & Health. He has received several prestigious fellowships and grants, including the MHRD Ph.D. Fellowship, Volvo Research Grant, etc. to attend various international conferences. He has also worked on international collaborations, such as the Indo-German project on travel behavior. Skilled in Python, R, SPSS, STATA, and QGIS, his research integrates statistical modeling and behavioral analysis to improve mobility systems, with a focus on sustainable and data-driven solutions. Passionate about creating efficient and sustainable transportation systems, Dr. Sarangi continues to bridge the gap between academic research, real-world applications, and policymaking. Beyond academia, he is a foodie at heart, and spiritual in nature with a love for origami, and cooking in his free time.
