About Me: I am Dr. Sumanta Kumar Sahu, currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at the IIT(ISM), Dhanbad. My academic journey has been shaped by a deep interest in materials science where I focus on developing advanced functional materials for energy, environmental, and biomedical applications. Over the years, I have guided several research students and contributed extensively through publications in reputed international journals. Beyond research, I am actively engaged in teaching and mentoring postgraduate and doctoral students, aiming to build strong foundations in solid-state chemistry, drug delivery technology, and functional materials .

Research Interest: My research lies at the intersection of functional materials, chemical sensing / imaging, and sustainable energy, with a strong leaning toward biomedical and environmental applications. I specialize in the design, synthesis, and functionalization of quantum dots, nanomaterials, and metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) for applications such as drug delivery, photo therapy, bio‐imaging, fluorescent sensing and antimicrobial agents. We also work extensively in the development of WLEDs and anti-counterfeiting especially using nanocomposites. Overall, we are deeply interested in combining synthetic inorganic chemistry, materials science, and catalysis to address global challenges in energy conversion, environmental and health‐care technologies.
